January – Quilt UFOs and WIPs
2025 started busy. We traveled home on New Year’s Eve, spent a night in the airport, picked up the pups from their second home, and finally relaxed. The laundry could wait. In the back of my mind, I kept thinking that I would get to pull a slip to see what I was working on this month! Quilt UFOs and WIPs: which one would it be? I ended up waiting until this morning to pull that slip.
Motivation and Excitement
I always start the year excited about finishing my quilt UFOs and WIPs. Will I ever finish all of them? I doubt it. My brain thrives on new projects. I need to temper it a bit. There is a limit before I feel overwhelmed.
I will add another slip back into my jar when I finish a project this year. In my mind, there are three stages to finish: top finished, quilting finished, and finally, binding finished. So, let’s see what my first project will be in 2025.
First Slip
The first slip is to finish the Row by Row Border. I got lucky with the first slip! Once I finish the Row by Row Border, I will add a new slip to the jar: machine quilting. As you can see, I finished the border quickly today. One project is done! Now to add the machine quilting slip to the jar.
The Next Quilt UFOs and WIPs slip
What is my next project? I haven’t pulled another slip yet. I will show you the next one when I pull it this weekend. There are finishing touches to be added to the Mystery Quilt that starts tomorrow. I cannot wait to see your fabric choices! How Are You Managing Your Quilt UFOs and WIPs in 2025?
Have you decided how to tackle your Quilt UFOs and WIPs this year? There is no right or wrong way. Maybe you have a goal to finish that one project – from start to finish. It is such a personal choice how we manage projects. On several quilting pages, people post 10 to 20 to 30 projects they finished in 2024. I am in awe of their focus on completing that many. Don’t let someone else’s progress derail your progress.
If it helps to keep you motivated, share your list of what you want to accomplish this year. Receiving encouragement helps to keep us moving!
Until next time.
