Why am I doing this, specifically – Quilting with Tamara Blog? Quilting was such a big part of my life before life took over. The sharing as I taught classes has been missing. I enjoy reading other blogs – even ones that aren’t quilty. It is time to get back to the things that bring me joy. In the Quilting With Tamara Blog, you will get to know me – the good, the messy, the comical, and at times the frustration that comes with life.
Quilters Like to Share
So, welcome to my blog. You will find a little bit of everything here. Quilting With Tamara will encompass teaching, designing, sharing, RV’ing, and chatting – among other things. I find creativity in a variety of places, and you will often read about them here. If there is something that you would like to see or read about, I am just a message away.
Recipe Ideas
Who knows, maybe even sharing those favorite time-saving recipes that allow more time for quilting or blogging. I am always open to learning about your favorite recipes – gluten-free ones are a bonus in my book. Cooking is not my passion, but I do enjoy easy meals that taste good. The crockpot and the air-fryer are my best friends, especially in the winter.
First, I need to share that I am not a person who measures when it comes to cooking in the crockpot. The tendency is to dump ingredients in making adjustments according to taste. If I share a recipe, I will do my best to give an approximate measure to use. Take time to taste as you go; if you have success with a change you made, please share – I am always looking for ways to improve a recipe.

Organizing Your Fabrics for Scrap Quilts Organizing your fabrics for scrap quilts is a personal preference. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, but we can discuss options that may work for you! Be prepared to make a mess first. It always seems to look worse before it looks better. The next part of the equation is that it isn’t a one-and-done project, unless you never pull scrap fabrics again. The method that works for you could…
Scrappy Row by Row Sampler – Maple Leaf Quilt Block The Maple Leaf Quilt Block is this month’s Scrappy Row by Row Sampler block. I included information on squaring up the half-square triangles (HSTs) in the directions, but feel free to choose your preferred method. There are a couple of ways to choose fabrics for this scrappy block. You can go completely scrappy with a variety of colors, or you can go scrappy within a…
May’s Quilt UFO Project Where did April go? With the mild weather, the outside chores started early. My Project Quilt UFO took a backseat, but I was able to finish the April ones – barely. It is going to be interesting to see how the summer goes. I enjoyed a wonderful quilt weekend with friends. I could have taken the UFO projects with me, but I wanted to complete something different. One was a project…
Scrap Quilts from Your Stash – Where to Start Creating scrap quilts from your stash can be overwhelming. Many quilters are used to following a pattern when they make a quilt. When I first started creating scrap quilts, I focused on some simple blocks that I liked. In this post, we will discuss quick and easy scrap quilts. I started playing with 9-Patch, 4-Patch, Snowball, Log Cabin, Simple Stars, and Bowtie blocks. Remember that when…
Row by Row Sampler Scrap Quilt 2024 This month, we will be creating a row of Greek Squares for the Row by Row Sampler. This block really held no appeal until I did them scrappy. The Greek Squares block lends itself to a scrap quilt. You have a decision to make before starting the block. Are you going to keep the scrap fabrics the same within the block, stick to a color family within the…
