Migration: A Free Scrap Quilt Pattern with Flying Geese
This Free Scrap Quilt Pattern is finally finished. The idea of creating a quilt with Flying Geese had been bopping around in my head for quite a while. The design has changed several times, but it is finally complete. It is a few days late for the start of February, but life gets in the way sometimes. My husband calls the pattern “Camping in the Fall.” He sees pup tents when he looks at the Flying Geese blocks. My color choices do lean toward the fall colors. It is always interesting when I get his input.
Machine Quilting
While I did decrease my scraps some, I added another quilt to my machine quilting pile. That’s the give and take of the process of using up what I have at home. I am not sure how I will machine quilt this pattern, but I already know where it is going. That is a great motivation to finish it quickly.
Free Scrap Quilt Patterns
There are other free scrap quilt patterns on this site. You can find them here. Scroll down the page to see what there is. This pattern is called Migration. I have a couple more patterns in the works. One, I am leaning toward doing as a Mystery Quilt. I have to decide if there are enough different steps to keep it a mystery through most of the steps. The other couple are definitely scrappy quilt patterns. The difficult part is making sure I have a sample quilt to test the pattern once it is written.
Contact me if you have a block request. I will do my best to add it to my page. Writing the directions and testing the pattern will take time, but I enjoy the challenge. I love seeing your blocks and quilts – even your fabric choices and color combinations. It is so inspiring to me. Please share. You may wish to join the Facebook page to keep updated. I will post when I have added something to the website.
Until Next Time.
