About Me – I believe you must bring your whole self to the table…
…If you want to thrive in today’s crazy world – your personality, your sense of humor, and most importantly, your heart. All of these elements brought me to Quilting with Tamara. A little about me – in 1999, I started Down Home Quilting as a way to create and sell quilting patterns, meet/teach others with the same passion and provide additional income for a single mom of two boys – they sure did know how to eat! The memories from those early years I will hold near and dear to my heart – the blessings I received by teaching in a local Quilt Shop. I am passionate about sharing free quilt patterns, scrap quilts, as well as mystery quilts.
About Me, My Boys, and the Business of Quilting
Both boys helped with the business, from assisting with the hand-dyed fabrics to working in the booth at various quilt shows. One son was my social person – he was willing to strike up a conversation with anyone. He listened to what I said and often repeated it to the visiting quilters. My other son was the business-minded one – offering suggestions on creating and marketing. I was blessed to have sons who each had strong points from me.
As you continue to read, I am sure there will be some reminiscing about times with my quilting friends in the blog. These moments in time are held dear to my heart. I stepped back from the business in 2010 as I pursued my career in school counseling and as CSE Chairperson.
Retired
As a result of retiring from my day job, I have more time to pursue what I enjoy—sharing my designs with others, recommendations on products I use, comparison of different quilting tools, as well as sharing tips and tricks that I find helpful. Let’s not forget; I love to hear what fellow quilters have to say. The creative process feeds my joy. You will see that I am not just a quilt designer but also work with miniatures and dollhouses as well as work with wood. Stay tuned; you will genuinely get insight into my creative chaos.
Traveling and Quilting
We are beginning to travel in our RV more, and I love the time on the road. You will see posts on how I am adjusting the quilting to tiny living and hopefully some posts from meet and greets from other quilters. Who knows where this will lead us?
Connecting through the blog – Quilting With Tamara
I decided to use a blog in addition to my Facebook page as a way to connect with other quilters. I invite you to explore my site, learn about my passions, and share what quilting has done for you.
Until next time…
