Quilt UFO Buster Update
January’s Project is complete; well, at least the top is finished. One Quilt UFO Buster, I can check off my quilt project list. I can’t say that I enjoyed it exactly, though. But the good news is that it is done, and I don’t have to make another one. I love the pattern; I don’t love my results. Those sketchy edges get me every time.
How is your progress going? For me, I have to squeeze in time. I would love to escape for a weekend quilting retreat, but it looks like that will have to wait. Hopefully, 30 minutes here and there will continue to help me be productive.
Bonus Pattern – Quilt UFO Buster
Due to my frustration with the quilt, I opted not to make more blocks. This resulted in utilizing another pattern, so all those pinned layers do not go to waste.
I used the pattern by H.D. Designs called 4 Patch Stacked Posies. I tried to locate the designer to link to her website, but it looks like the web address is no longer active. A quick search will provide links for purchase.
One thing I learned from this pattern is that when you wonder if you’ve turned a square the wrong way, stop and look! Guess who didn’t? When I was done, I found three incorrect blocks. Guess how many times I thought I should probably check – yep, you guessed it, three!
Sashings and Cornerstones
Once I made the blocks, which were quick and straightforward, I decided to add sashings with an accent color. The same accent color is used for the cornerstones. This quilt could easily be completed in a weekend once you are familiar with the layering, pinning, and cutting process.
I was kind of flying by the seat of my pants when I decided to put this quilt together. There wasn’t a plan when I started. The quilt guided my process. While the high contrast with black, white, and red isn’t my first choice, I have someone in mind for this quilt.
I would love to see what you are working on this month. Feel free to comment below or share on my Facebook page.
Until next time.

I missed the challenge. What is it Tammy? Looks like one I could use.
This challenge is a great one to join! Gather 12 projects you want to finish in 2023. Assign a number (1-12) to each project. Each month I will pull a number. The goal is to finish the project that was assigned the number pulled. See this page for more information:
