We hope you’ve been enjoying the Mystery Quilt process so far and that life has allowed you a little time at the sewing machine. If you’ve been keeping up—fantastic! Mystery Quilt Tips
For this installment, you’ll only need to complete four blocks, making it a great chance to catch up if you’ve fallen a bit behind.
The conversation continues regarding the orientation of the units of this block, so take a moment to double-check your layout before sewing. The pieced units form a distinct diagonal line across the block, and it’s essential to place the solid squares correctly to maintain the intended design. A little attention to detail here will make a big difference in the final look!
Pressing Tips
The pressing directions for this block are refreshingly simple! For best results, press your seams toward the plain squares. This helps reduce bulk and gives the block a cleaner finish. The nice part is you don’t have to worry about seams lining up from the individual units!
Of course, as always, feel free to press in the direction that works best for your quilt—sometimes trusting your instincts (and your iron!) leads to the best outcome.
And remember, once your mystery quilt is quilted and bound, chances are you won’t even think twice about which way you pressed those seams. So aim for accuracy, but don’t stress—just enjoy the process!
