Step 12 – Mystery Quilt

In this installment of the Mystery Quilt series, we’ll be diving into the sashings — a crucial step that brings all the blocks together and starts to reveal the bigger picture.
Originally, I considered breaking this part into four separate installments, since there’s a bit of detail involved. But I know many of you are eager to see how your hard work is coming together, so we’ll tackle it all in one go!
Get ready — this is where the quilt really starts to take shape, and you’ll finally begin to see the beautiful design you’ve been building toward!
Mystery Quilt Tip for Sashings
My biggest tip when working on the sashings is to double — and even triple — check the direction you’re sewing each unit, especially for Sashing #3 and #4.

These particular sashings have subtle directional elements that can be easily flipped by mistake. Taking a moment to lay everything out before sewing can save you from having to rip seams later. It might help to mark the correct orientation with a small pin or label, or even refer back to a diagram as you go. A little extra attention now will go a long way in keeping everything aligned and looking beautiful in the final quilt!

That is it for this installment. I can’t wait to see your progress and finished sashings—each version is like a unique surprise. Keep sharing your photos and updates; they truly make this quilting journey even more special. If you think you have figured out the Mystery Quilt layout, send me a picture!
