This mystery quilt step is another quick one. You will create a 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strip from the Half Flying Geese blocks. That’s it!! With this portion of the scrap quilt pattern, you will only deal with two scrappy colors and two backgrounds. The backgrounds don’t even touch, so that is all the better.

Create two piles, one for each orientation. I made a couple extra because I would inevitably end up with the same colors at the end.

Take your time when you are sewing the two sides together. If you pin them at the diagonal of the scrappy fabric, it helps to keep them from sliding. The points line up better, also. When pressing, go in the direction that provides the best point tip. There are a couple that I ended up pressing open.

Consequently, I had to take apart some of mine to fix the point. I need to slow down and enjoy the process rather than race through it. My results are always better when I take my time.
