2024 Project Quilt UFO
Spent some productive time in the sewing room. Enjoying the extra time that I have during the winter. We are more than halfway through February – time for a quilt UFO update! I completed the foundation pieced project for February. So far, it works having things broken down into smaller, manageable pieces. Focusing on them first, even though I don’t want to, helps.
Jack’s Chain Progress
Jack’s Chain is an easy one to fit in. It is almost a mindless time in the sewing room. We all need to take some time away from the stress of life. In the next few months, I will be able to move on to adding the 9-Patches to the hexagons. This project used most of my light-colored scrap fabrics. Now to find projects that will use up my other scraps.
UPDATE: I came across this pattern – Mosaic Variation. I have just enough background leftover from my Scrappy Row by Row Sampler to use for it. Everything is now in the “To-Do” box just waiting for me to have a quilty weekend. While it did make a dent in my scraps, there are probably enough to make many more quilts.
Machine Quilting
My machine quilting project for this month was waylaid a bit. I was having issues with my machine. The speed control box that is on the handles needed to be replaced. I attempted to use the foot control as others have done, and it was so awkward. Time to order a replacement.
Let me say that I am so glad I did! I didn’t replace it with the same one I had; I tried a different one that works so much better. It isn’t a speed regulator, so I have to do it myself…but it works so much better. I will get caught up with it by the end of the month. If I am lucky, I will get the binding done.
I am looking forward to my next machine quilting project. I choose to try to get all the larger quilts done this winter while I had some extra time. Usually once I start machine quilting, I get on a roll. It will be nice to clear out that shelf of quilts waiting to be quilted. Project Quilt UFO has helped me tremendously these last couple of years.
I hope you are finding time to relax in the sewing room.
Until next time.
