Project Quilt UFO – June

Quilt UFO June

June’s Installment of Project Quilt UFO

May sped by, and I am struggling to accept that June is already here. I am barely able to finish my quilt UFO each month. Our warmer temperatures and just the right amount of rain have our grass growing fast. The landscaping will keep me busy for a couple of days each week, so any free time is precious.

What Are You Working on This Month?

It doesn’t even have to be a quilt UFO; spending creative time quilting is enjoyable and motivating. Seeing your projects keeps me actively engaged. Your messages, both public and private, bring a smile to my face!

Quilt UFOJack's Chain

Jack’s Chain Quilt UFO

This is quickly becoming a favorite. I can see the results as I continue to sew units together. I am keeping them small right now as I am not sure which way will work best for me: “blocks” or rows. First, I need to finish creating the pieces pictured. Then, I need to test a couple of options to see what works for me when putting them together.

Using muslin for the background reminds me of my grandma’s quilts. I am looking forward to seeing the results as I continue to create pieces for Jack’s Chain.

Machine Quilting

This month, I will be machine quilting the Migration scrap quilt. The post about this scrap quilt can be found here. The pattern can be found here. This quilt will be used in one of our short-term rentals. The fabrics are perfect for the Hillside Retreat Tiny House. Now, the quilts will be put to good use!

If I have extra time this month, I would like to sneak another machine quilting project on the machine. Now that I have tackled many of my projects, I feel like I can sit back and enjoy the designing side of things. It is the part that I enjoy the most.

June’s Foundation Piecing

I won’t be able to start the foundation piecing quilt UFO until at least Wednesday, but probably not until Saturday the 8th. There is a full schedule this week. If I split the pieces up into smaller groups, I can get them done within a day or so. Hopefully, I can find that time this month.

I am excited to see the end results. It will be the half-way point this month. Just six more months and I will have all the foundation piecing down for two quilts.

What’s Next?

At the halfway point of this year, I am already planning next year’s projects. Machine quilting will always be on my list as I continue to make quilts, crazy huh?!! Scrappy quilts will continue to be a focus as I continue to create patterns that feature scrap fabrics. I am enjoying this part of the process, that creative chaos, as I search for just the right fabrics and colors.

  1. Love your Jack’s chain😍I am also making 9-patches, but was thinking of a single Irish chain….this post has me re-thinking that idea…. Thanks for the inspiration!🌷💞
