March 2024 Update for Quilt UFO Projects
It feels like forever since I’ve had a chance to post. It’s time to touch base on the Quilt UFO progress for March. How is everyone doing? This month has been an interesting one, to say the least. This past week has been what we expected for our winter, but after such a wonderful stretch of weather, it is hard to go back.
Did I have a chance to get much done? Well, sort of. I have completed most of my UFOs for this month, but I still do not feel like it was enough. It is probably because I am itching to get outside and play in the dirt, which is still way too early for me. If I am not patient, all the work will be for nothing.
Jack’s Chain
All of the 9-Patches are complete! I feel great about that, and now the focus will be on putting the parts together. I am excited to see this project finished, but I also know that I may have to enlarge it. At this point, it isn’t large enough for where I want to use it. I have this inner conversation about just adding more pieces now before I get sick of it and give up on it. We will see which voice wins out on this one.
Foundation Piecing Quilt UFO
Slow but steady wins the race. Each month, I have been able to complete the pieces I need. The results are truly coming together, but I am looking forward to having these two projects done. The momentum needs to continue so they will be finished by the end of the year. I know I am not the only one who has to force myself to finish a project. It is a good thing I love how it is turning out.
Machine Quilting
This month, I finished my Delectable Mountain. Now, I need to figure out what binding to use. Of course, I didn’t set the fabrics aside for it. I hope to have a big enough piece in the stash. The pile of quilt tops is shrinking on the shelf! I haven’t added anything more to it in a while.
Adding to the Quilt UFO Project
The next mystery quilt will be released later this year. I am working on the design’s finishing touches now. This one is NOT a scrap quilt. There will be four colors. My version has three values in the blue color family: Dark Blue, Medium Blue, and Medium Light Blue. The fourth color is a white tone on tone. As I played with different color combinations, hubby saw the blues and claimed that one was the best. He doesn’t normally say much when I am in the design phase. I would have leaned toward more autumn colors, but I just finished a few for me in the last couple of years.
The 2023 Mystery Quilt will be removed from the website when I post the new one. If you haven’t had a chance yet, print off the installments now. I may add them to the website for purchase in the future.
