Project Quilt UFO – May

May’s Quilt UFO Project

Where did April go? With the mild weather, the outside chores started early. My Project Quilt UFO took a backseat, but I was able to finish the April ones – barely. It is going to be interesting to see how the summer goes.

I enjoyed a wonderful quilt weekend with friends. I could have taken the UFO projects with me, but I wanted to complete something different. One was a project from 2005! I have everything done except the two borders. Wrestling with them didn’t seem appealing. I also worked on a scrappy pattern. I will post the pattern later this month.

Quilt UFO – Foundation Piecing

This project almost got me in April. When it is time to grab the bag out with this month’s project, it feels like there are way more pieces in it. No more negative thoughts; find a day to get it done!

My goal is to complete May early. It looks like Saturday will be a rainy day, so maybe I can make progress then. The units are turning out nicely, and I know that I will enjoy the results. It is just a matter of moving forward and completing them.

Machine Quilting

Fire SNW Quilt UFO

This is an easier Quilt UFO to complete each month. By completing just a couple of rows a couple of times a week, this project flies by. The machine quilting pile is decreasing, and the number of finished projects is increasing. They are mostly larger machine quilting projects; they are no longer overwhelming.

I call this month’s machine quilting project Fire. It uses the Bethany Reynolds method of Stack ‘n Whack. Now, to find a fabric that will work for the binding. I no longer have either fabric in my stash. There are plenty of colors to pull from in the blocks, but I am leaning toward a dark binding. I will have to test out a couple of fabrics once it is quilted.

Jack’s Chain – Ongoing Quilt UFO

I can see that this project will be ongoing. I didn’t put a deadline on it. It actually serves as a no-stress project that I can switch to when I am sick of working on the foundation piecing one. I am entering a more complicated stage, but I am sure I will find a method that works for me.

Until next time.
