Time for an Update – May Quilt UFO
Where has the month of May gone? We’ve been blessed with some great weather this month. I took advantage of those not-so-nice days to finish my Quilt UFO projects for this month! I wasn’t sure that I would have time with all the spring cleaning that needed to be done outside, but somehow, it worked.
Jack’s Chain
I am falling in love with this pattern. As the units come together, I can see the pattern emerging. If I want to make it king-size, more pieces and parts will need to be made.
There will be “Y” seams to deal with as I start putting everything together; once you get comfortable with the “Y” seams, they aren’t so bad. They provide the opportunity to create a more complicated design. Below are a few examples of how to do the “Y” Seams. I actually started with the Kaye Wood technique and had that lightbulb moment when it just clicked!

Foundation Piecing Quilt UFO
At the beginning of May, I conquered May’s foundation piecing units. It was nice to check that box off this month. I am beginning to get excited about seeing the end results!
Next month, I will be at the halfway point for these two quilts. I am not sure if I will have time to finish the quilt tops before the end of the year, but all the paper-piecing will be done!
Machine Quilting
It is done. Done. Done. The “Fire” Stack-n-Whack turned out great. I will need to find a fabric for the binding. I know that I don’t have any of the background left, but there are enough color options for me to choose from.
It will be nice to cross this off my list once the binding is done. I love the way the quilt turned out, but I have no idea what I am going to do with it.
Quilt UFO Progress
How are you progressing on your quilt UFO projects? Slowly but surely, my piles of projects are decreasing. I have added more to the pile with an upcoming Mystery Quilt and another scrappy pattern. But if I can complete more than I start, that’s a good thing, right?!!
