February Quilt UFOs

Now it is time to review what I accomplished in January for the Quilt UFOs. One month down, and I am happy with the progress, especially with the foundation piecing project. This gives me hope that I will finish it this year. Breaking it down into small pieces makes it more enjoyable. While I love the looks of the patterns, the work involved can be daunting. Wait until I have to take all the paper off the back; what a mess that will be.

Mariner’s Star & 4th of July Foundation Piecing

In January, I divided the foundation piecing projects up into 12 zip bags. This makes it a grab-and-go project and so much easier – no thought or overthinking on what to do. Months ago, I pinned fabrics with each block. That saved me a lot of work. I was able to complete what I needed for January, and now the pressure is on to repeat that process for February.

The results do make me excited to see the project completed! I love the way the batiks create texture in both of these quilts.

Numerous 9-Patches completed! It was nice to sit down and create 10 of them each time I had a chance. By focusing on just 10 of them, I wasn’t overwhelmed. Throughout the month, I finished 60 all total. For February, I am hoping to match that number, but it depends on how my free time plays out. At some point, I will need to start adding the triangle pieces to the 9-Patches. That will be the easy part; I will need to be meticulous when it comes to the hexagons.

Machine Quilting – Quilt UFO

The focus for February’s Machine Quilting is a black & white Stack n Whack quilt following Bethany Reynolds’s book. Every day that I was able to work in the sewing room, I focused on finishing two rows of machine quilting. It is amazing how quickly a machine-quilting UFO can become completed.

I have a few larger machine quilting projects to do this winter. It will be nice to complete them and the shelf to become a bit more empty. When I get a bit frustrated with my progress, I remind myself that something is being completed because I had to order another large roll of batting.

Quilt UFOs – Goals, Goals, Goals

It is still early in the year, and I know that the summer months are my busy months with outdoor work. So, making a plan should help me stay on track. At least, that is what I tell myself. Forward progress, right?!?!

Until next time.
