Free Pattern for Kansas City Star Block Variation
Welcome to Quilting WIth Tamara and the Free Pattern for Kansas City Star Block Variation. There are so many variations on this quilt block. Take some time to play with color placement or add another fabric into the pattern. As a result, the final quilt can look very different.
Kansas City Star Quilt Block Variation
This variation added different corners and changed the color placement on the middle blocks of the four outside edges. Therefore, it creates a secondary pattern when sewn block to block. Add sashings and cornerstones will change the secondary design again. Using pieced sashings or a pieced cornerstone would once again change the quilt look.
A Simple Block With Many Options
The Kansas City Star block comprises SIAS (Square in a Square) and partial SIAS. Chain-sewing the units results in faster construction. Precut pieces from leftover fabrics and bundle them. Subsequently, save the bundles until you have enough to make a scrappy quilt.
