Sawtooth Variation Quilt Block

Welcome to Quilting With Tamara. The Sawtooth Variation Quilt Block is versatile, lending itself to secondary patterns. As you explore different quilt blocks you will find variations as creative people view things with diverse perspectives; the Sawtooth quilt block is no exception. Color placement is the main factor. Take a moment to play with color – ignoring the typical placement of colors. You may just create a new variation of the Sawtooth that suits you! Couple it with a pieced sashing, and you will have a stunning quilt.

Sawtooth Variation

This block is a variation on the Sawtooth block like the one from Marsha McCloskey’s Block Party Book. If you haven’t checked this book out – now’s the time! It is a considerable resource for quilters who enjoy designing their own quilts.

Blocks, blocks, and more blocks in this book. Detailed cutting instructions for over a hundred blocks as well as layouts in the back of the book. In other words, this is a good book for your quilting library.

I have earmarked many pages for future projects.

Create Your Own Variations

It’s ok to color outside of the lines and believe me, it’s more fun. Look for other ways to color or create the quilt block. The quilt doesn’t have to follow traditional layouts or colors. Try something you wouldn’t usually try. That includes sashings and borders. You will be surprised by secondary designs that give your quilt that added spark.

Due to some issues with embedding the pdf file for the quilt block direction, I have switched to the link instead. It should open on a new page. From that page, you can download or print the pattern. Please let me know if you have any issues with it. You can send me a message through my contact page or Facebook Messages.

Until next time…
