September Quilt UFO Buster 2023

Quilt UFO September

Quilt UFO Project Number

While rocking my sleeping granddaughter and enjoying some quiet time, I realize that this is the first day of September. I have no idea where the month of August went. Blink, and the month is gone. Hopefully, you are fitting some quilting time in around your summer activities. My quilting time is usually in the evenings as a way to escape the stress of the day. If lucky, I can squeeze in a whole day or two during the month. August was a bit trickier to find time for the Quilt UFO. I managed, but I am not sure how. Are you ready to move on to September’s project?

September Quilt UFO Number

Quilt UFO SeptemberPeeled Back

This month’s number is 11. My number 11 is a large quilt that needs quilting. I can do the big areas on the quilting machine, but there are peeled-back areas that I will have to do on my smaller machine. I didn’t realize that all the peeled-back areas weren’t done until I had it loaded on the machine. It will be interesting to see how this goes. This pattern came from the book Peeled-Back Patchwork by Annette Ornelas. I didn’t see the book available for purchase on her website, but a quick search will give you options if you want to check it. (No affiliate links – I just like the looks of the quilts from this book.)

Quilt UFO Buster – August Update

Even though I switched out my August UFO project, I ended up machine quilting two larger quilts. I wasn’t sure I would get the bindings done – but they are all set: washed and dried. The original project is still MIA, and for the life of me, I have no idea where it went. In retrospect, finishing the quilts was more productive.

ProjectsDownsizing again!

This past month, I reviewed all my projects again, mainly to see if they are ones I want to keep. I was a bit brutal in my weeding-out process. Most of the fabrics returned to my stash for use in a different project or maybe a someday project. My UFO list decreased quite a bit in August because of this.

So Many Ideas, So Little Time

Canning Chili

I am looking forward to the cooler weather, maybe not the snow, but at least cooler weather. First of all, I won’t have to mow as often. So many acres here to mow and not enough daylight hours to get everything done. Those cool evenings where I can work on the bindings in my project basket without roasting.

Canning season is almost finished for this household, so that frees up time. While I am working on this post, I am waiting for the timer to count down so I can turn off the pressure canner. Once everything is cooled and cleaned, I can put the kitchen back in order.

Enjoy your holiday weekend. Take time to enjoy family, friends, peace and quiet, the weather – whatever will bring you joy.

Feel free to comment below or share on my Facebook page. I will do an update post throughout the month to share my progress.

Until next time.
