July’s Row by Row Sampler

Are you ready for the July installation of the Row by Row Sampler? This month’s row is quick and easy, but selecting your fabrics and cutting them out will probably take longer than sewing the blocks together. This scrappy quilt is coming together nicely. It won’t be long, and you will have a sampler quilt to add to your collection.

Bow Tie Block

This block requires two larger scrappy squares, two smaller scrappy squares, and two larger background squares. That is it! As you can see from the picture, I went utterly scrappy within each color family. But, like I said, let your creativity fly for each row! You can lay out the blocks differently. If your focus is on scrappy, go completely scrappy in the row without any regard for color families.

Row by Row Sampler – Options for this Block

This is such a simple block, but it can make a big impact. I love the illusion of curves it creates. The Bow Tie Block is a great choice for a scrappy quilt, another stash buster. I prefer using smaller blocks like this to create the scrappy quilt. The illusion of curves tends to be more predominant.

All of the blocks from this Row by Row Sampler could be used by themselves in a scrap quilt. I am doing just that and using up my stash of scraps.
