Scrappy Quilt – Row by Row Sampler June Installment

Are you enjoying this Row by Row Sampler as much as I am? Finishing this scrappy quilt is high on my list. This is another one for our Hillside Retreat rental. That will give me two quilts to use, and I can donate the other two bedspreads. This month, I decided to make my pine trees all scrappy but only with green fabrics. They will look great in a variety of colors, but on a whim, I did them in green

Lost Pictures for the Row by Row Sampler

I have scoured my phone and computer looking for photos taken while making these blocks. They are missing in action, so this post is going to be a short one, to say the least. The block consists of four rows, as you can see in the graphic above. Three rows have a variation on the Flying Geese block. You may be surprised at how quickly this row goes together.

Pine Tree Block Points

You will want to take care when sewing these blocks together. The points of the bottom two rows of the trees will meet. Mine are far from perfect, but I have found that once the quilt is washed and dried, many of these issues go away.

Tips

  • Pin carefully to help keep from cutting off points.
  • When you are pressing the seams, if it looks like a point is cut off, press the seam in the other direction.
  • Take your time sewing these blocks together into rows; it isn’t a race.
  • Don’t worry; relax and enjoy the process. We are often our own worst critic.

Enjoy

Enjoy working on this row. I apologize again for the lack of pictures. If I had extra hours in the day, I would recreate, but the landscaping is calling, and this is my only day without the kiddos. I would love to see your pictures as you are going along!!!! Here is the link for the pattern. Scroll down to the June link.
