Scrappy Sunday

Jack’s Chain – Scrappy Sunday

Scrappy SundayJack's Chain

This week has been an interesting week: busy schedule, extra stress, and not enough hours in the day to get to those outside chores. So, how did I manage it? Tons of spring/fall cleaning to put that nervous energy to good use. The whole time, I was planning in my head what I would work on for a Scrappy Sunday. A little daydreaming helped the process go a bit faster. My goal this weekend was to sub-cut the majority of the units for the 9-Patches for Jack’s Chain.

Combating Boredom

Because I can get bored quickly, I decided to schedule projects to work on during the week. I will try to post a couple of times a week to keep myself accountable. Crossing things off my list is my ultimate goal. There is something rewarding about seeing things completed.

Will I ever run out of projects? Goodness no! I have way too many projects in varying stages of completion. Even with the UFO Buster, I am only slightly making a dent. My brain craves creative stimulation. I escape into my sewing room during stressful times to find my joy.

If I can finish the outside chores in a reasonable time, dependent upon the weather, then I will focus on subcutting the 9-Patch units. I am happy with the results of the individual units; let’s hope they come together as I imagine them. That is one part of going scrappy that makes it an adventure – you never truly know how it will turn out until it is done.

I am slightly concerned with one of my background fabrics, which isn’t as light as the others. I will want to decide on using it once I have completed the 9-Patches. Consequently, if it does read too dark, I can have the layout go from light background down to the darker background.

Jack’s Chain, uh-oh

Pressing the seams the wrong way. Have you ever been on auto-pilot while doing no-brainer tasks? I get that way while I am pressing. My mind wanders. Well, it wandered a bit too far, and I found that I pressed eight strip sets the wrong way. The worse part, I didn’t notice until after I sub-cut them. So, eight strip sets times 14 units equal a lot of repressing. I am saving that for another day.

Until next time.
