Sunday Sew Day – Any Projects?

Sunday Sew Day- What did you work on?

Sunday Sew Day

Instead of a Sunday Sew Day, I actually had a weekend sew. On Saturday, I finished adding a binding to a quilt because my quilting machine was being a bit picky, and I had no patience for that.

Organizing: Still or Again?

Once I finished the binding, I started looking at how to organize my fabrics. I had the yardage ones put away. This is great, but I forgot about what I had. This could also be because I have too much, maybe?!? I think it is because I have too much for my storage.

This was my room before, and you can see I have quilted very little on the scrappy X’s & O’s quilt. But after trying twice and having issues, I figured it would be better to walk away.

So, instead, I pulled all the fabric out of the hutch and the totes and started organizing it. This is my yardage fabric, and I had forgotten how many Batiks I had!

I did make progress on the Scrappy X’s & O’s. It is no longer dragging on the floor. I still have a ways to go, but the quilting machine seems to cooperate. Shelves have been added, and with my short stature, there is no fear of me hitting my head; now, for hubby, that may be a different matter. By pulling the fabrics out of the hutch and adding them to the shelf, I can see what colors I have! I also now have a place to put my frankenbatting.

Sunday Sew Day Activities

So, today, I created frankenbatting to use up the smaller pieces. My pile of cut-off batts was getting out of hand. I took an hour or so to get them in order and ended up with half a dozen larger batts for the quilts. I still have a small pile to work on, but that can keep me busy on another day.

Next, I created two more bindings for projects waiting in the wings. I hope to pull a binding slip once I am done machine quilting. The quilt I finished has now been washed and is in the dryer as I type. One completed project for this year!
