2027 – A New Quilting Adventure Ahead!

It’s hard to believe another year is coming to an end! We’ve spent the year creating, learning, and enjoying plenty of quilting adventures together. Now it’s time to look ahead and get excited about what’s coming in the new year. Are you ready for another year of quilting inspiration?
The 2026 Block of the Month With a Twist has been such a fun quilting journey! Each block gave me a chance to try something new, experiment with fabric, and watch individual pieces come together into something special. Using a spinner wheel to choose fabric colors and styles added an extra challenge. It pushed me outside my comfort zone and encouraged me to explore combinations I might not have chosen on my own.
If you’ve been following along, I hope you’ve enjoyed making the blocks as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing them with you. We’re getting close to the finish line, with our final installment planned for late December or early January. I can’t wait to see everything come together!
But just because one quilting adventure is coming to an end doesn’t mean we’re slowing down. In fact, there are some exciting things planned for 2027!
What’s Coming Next in Quilting?
I’m excited to introduce a new blog series: Lessons in Monochromatic Quilting.
Have you ever wondered how you can create a beautiful, interesting quilt using different shades and values from just one color family? Monochromatic quilting is a wonderful way to explore color, contrast, and fabric selection while creating a quilt with depth and dimension.

For this series, I’ll be designing a new quilt using a combination of cream, sand, and tan fabrics. I’ll be exploring how light, medium, and dark values work together to create contrast and visual interest.
I’ve chosen to keep my range of values fairly close together to create a soft, subtle look. However, you can take the same ideas and use a much wider range of values if you prefer a stronger contrast.
As we work through the lessons, we’ll look at how to select fabrics, recognize differences in value, and combine fabrics that may seem almost identical at first glance. You’ll discover how those small differences can make a big impact on the finished quilt.
Whether you’re drawn to soft neutrals or want to try this technique with your favorite color, I hope you’ll find plenty of inspiration to make the project your own.
And Don’t Forget Those Scraps!
Another topic I’ll continue exploring is one that has always held a special place in my quilting heart: scrap quilting!

I know I’m not alone in saying that leftover fabric from previous projects tends to accumulate. Those little pieces are often too pretty to throw away, but sometimes it can be difficult to decide what to do with them.
Looking for inspiration? Visit my Scrap Quilt Patterns page and discover a few ideas to spark your creativity and get you started!
I’m also working on a couple of new scrappy quilt patterns that I can’t wait to share with you!
We’ll explore ways to organize, combine, and use those leftover fabrics to create beautiful scrappy quilts and smaller projects. And here’s something I believe: organizing your scraps shouldn’t become another complicated quilting project!
There are plenty of ways to sort and store fabric, but the best system is simply the one that works for you. You don’t need an elaborate sorting method or perfectly organized bins to enjoy scrap quilting. Find an approach that makes it easy to see what you have and use the fabrics you love.
My goal is to share practical ideas and patterns that help you make the most of the fabric already tucked away in your sewing room.
