July Challenge Wheel Block of the Month
Welcome to July’s Challenge Wheel Block of the Month! You can see the grayscale of my fabrics for this block. There is definitely a better contrast this month. But, in saying that, it is ok to not have high contrast – that will evoke a different feeling. Take some time with these smaller block of the month series to test out high contrast versus low contrast fabrics.
This month we’re continuing to build on the techniques you’ve already learned, allowing you to strengthen your skills while trying new approaches. One example is creating Quarter Square Triangles (QSTs) using a different construction method. You may discover a technique that becomes your new favorite! I will add some links to other methods of creating QSTs at the bottom of this page.
One of the best parts of quilting is seeing how dramatically a block can change simply by switching fabrics or rearranging the placement of the smaller units. The very same pattern can create an entirely different look depending on your fabric choices.
Now for the fun part…
Challenge Wheel Spin!
Whatever fabric category the wheel lands on is the challenge fabric you’ll incorporate into your block this month. Will it be something you’ve been wanting to use… or something completely outside your comfort zone?
That’s the beauty of the Challenge Wheel—it encourages us to experiment, be creative, and sometimes surprise ourselves.
So spin the wheel, gather your fabrics, and let’s see where this month’s quilting adventure takes you!
